I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with a Master’s degree in Social Work from University of Texas, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University of South Florida. I wasn’t born in Austin, but I’ve lived here for over 20 years and I understand the community, schools, and systems quite well. As the parent of three adopted children:
I bring a lifetime of advocacy and passion for the issues facing families who are impacted by emotional and behavioral concerns.
I am also an adjunct professor at the School of Social Work at University of Texas and at the School of Social Work at Tulane University. I love the opportunity this allows to influence and create change in the young adults at the university. My work as a clinical supervisor, providing that training and guidance to new clinicians, is also an important and meaningful part of my professional life, and provides that continuum of clinical oversight that will ensure the most skilled therapists provide services that are respectful and incorporate evidence-based techniques. I have taught protective parenting and anger management groups at a domestic violence center, facilitated groups for adults and adolescents throughout the Austin area, provide continuing education and presentations to other professionals and the community about trauma, attachment, child development and tolerance. I love what I do, have a great passion for social and emotional struggles, and have also volunteered for organizations such as the Children’s Community Resource Coordination Group. Feed My People, and the Board of Directors for PLAN of Central Texas.
Personally…I also enjoy running with my dog, relaxing fun with family and friends, outdoor activities, and the allure of a good book. I believe in the power of humor, the beauty of fun, and the joy of relationships. It is my goal to be your teacher, ally, and coach in your journey to a more fulfilling and less stressful life experience. I’m here to work on your behalf; to provide acceptance, respect, and understanding. With you, I want to help you build your own capacities and strengths in moving towards change.
All people have potential for growth and adaptation throughout life.
With encouragement, kindness, guidance and humor – I can help you and your family move Life Forward.
